We are of course referring to the Webcomic WAR! of 2009. Alas it returns. And this year they have called out for every Evil Genius the land of WEB has to offer… and so, the mighty Feran warlords of the Marucci line deign to come forth and battle these creatures who dare challenge us.

So it is time, to call our fellow FERANs to battle. We must rally our minions, construct the ultimate in battle automotons, forge the finest weapons and build the greatest defenses. It is time, my friends- for FERA to take its place as the greatest webcomic in this battle of wits, might and courage.

And what can you do to help make this happen? Our loyal followers, that is quite simple. In order to best our nemesis Amuletts of Epic Fail and the hordes of other webcomic would-be-victors in this glorious battle- we first require resources to construct our arsenal.

This is where you come in.

The following gains us resources in units known by the mysterious term “parts”. You must search out these “parts” by performing the following acts of bravery and dastardly cunning:

1) Plug and Link FERA any where you can (no trolling or spamming- we want to increase our minions not have our might crippled by moderators).

2) Write a review of FERA and post it on your blog, website etc.- any where you can muster.

3) Rate, review of subscribe/favourite FERA on any or all of the following:

• Comic Hovel (Don’t forget to VOTE for us here too).
• Comic Listing

• Top Online Comics

4) Vote for FERA here:

7) There is now a downloadable version of the FERA flyer on deviantArt- I’ve reduced the colours as much as possible to help with printing costs. Feel free to download and print these off- stick them in your local shop window, leave a pile of them at the local comic shop etc. In general get the word out.

8 ) Do you run a podcast or interview site? Email me using the form on the contact page and we can arrange a text based interview or a podcast appearance!

9) Create some fanart to post on your online galleries and link it to us- let me know so that I can add it to our fanart gallery on the main site!

I’ll be keeping an eye on our minions and those who exceed our expectations- the one of you who make the most effort and gives us the most support- will receive a full colour A4 size piece of artwork created by yours truly. It will be signed and you can choose what it will be of, as well as if you want it to be sent via email as a digital file OR posted to you as a physical print. This piece will be one of a kind, and a low resolution- watermarked version will appear on this site as part of the promo for this event.

The Web Comic Planet Collective includes some great comics, from Shadow Girls to Union of Heroes and many more. Set up by Phil (aka Frumph) of Web Comic Planet, formerly Frumph.net- a web comic listing and community.

The LGBT Webcomic Charity Art Auction was set up by J. Gray of Mysteries of the Arcana. Art from Erika Moen of Dar, Jamie Robertson of Clan of the Cats, Adam Smithee of Apple of Discord, Tab Kimpton of Khaos Komix, Paige Braddock of Jane’s World, Jesse Justice of Diablito del Ring, George Hutcheon of Amazoness, Nanda of Ugly Girl, Keith Wood of Mysteries of the Arcana and the hand drawn/inked Fera art shown above from yours truly. All proceeds go to The Point Foundation.

This week doesn’t see any great revelations in the world of FERA- unless you thought the sisters getting along was a big shock? And before any one says it, yes Kato is attracted to the fairer sex, we’ll just have to wait and see how she comes to terms with her feelings and if she ever does find that someone.

As someone pointed out, Kato’s tail is incorrectly positioned in one of the panels- I intend to fix this in following updates but for now I will claim that in this weeks page her jeans were not designed with Fera in mind, and her tail is actually having to come up over the waist to get out (which sounds awfully uncomfortable to me).

Also in FERA news- theres now a section on the site for asking the cast some questions. It’s called “Ask Kato” and is set up in the typical agony aunt type way so you can ask questions by emailing or posting in our forum. You can find out more by taking a look at the Ask Kato page- theres currently some silly temp questions up as examples. The questions can be about anything, from the story, world, characters, their beliefs etc. to real world things. Bear in mind all questions selected for the page will be based on the characters knowledge and they can’t give spoilers for upcoming arcs.

Recently we posted FERA’s details on the Belfry comics listing- and I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed FERA had been in the top 10 most read (#1 at one point) for over a week.

Speaking of listings, those of you who are into webcomics, or make your own- check out Webcomic Planet if you haven’t already. It’s a great listing, theres even some interesting games etc. as well as chat and forums.

To top it all off Frumph aka. Phil who runs the site is a great help and if you’re having trouble with wordpress/comic press or just want some advice on your site he’s probably the one to ask. He’s also currently running an event called “War!” involving several webcomics battling it out with dice rolls in chat to be crowned the victor. Being a Dungeons and Dragons fan theres something appealing about the War to me- perhaps next year will see FERA or Tech-Diff amongst the combatants.

I attended a Digital Jobs Fair this week, it was interesting- but it seems that the majority of employers are looking for “software eng.” for web development work, which isn’t much use for us C++ guys. I’m really interested in learning some more advanced web dev stuff as well as getting some experience with creating flash games.

We’re currently finishing off a couple of design series’ for possible future merchandise and some wallpapers etc. just in case fans are interested. If anyone knows of a decent print on demand service we could look into for shirts and other merch let us know. We just got our hands on a button/badge machine this week for producing 1.5″ buttons as well… and yes I was a geek and tested it by making a blood smeared smiley face.

No comic mentions for this week since I’ve probably rambled on enough already. Next post though, I promise I’ll put together a couple of interest- for now though I’ll just leave you guys with a couple of interesting links:

New England Webcomic Weekend- It seems a huge group of webcomic creators and fans will be descending on New England this coming weekend. So remember- lock up your daughters, hide the booze and try not to make direct eye contact…. oh and maybe, just maybe some one can come up with something like this in actual England

War!- the brainchild of Frumph aka. Phil of Webcomic Planet, this has been going for a while now, with a few webcomics getting involved to battle it out for honour, glory and some such.
